My life orientation has had a profound impact on my decision to pursue relational counselling studies, the development of my clinical practice and the focus area of my doctoral thesis. In selecting the research area I wish to contribute to, I recognised a relationship between dreaming, thinking and my lived experience while considering the nature of the contact-barrier between these realms of being. A coherent yet nuanced research potential surfaced concerning a two-way communication between the conscious and unconscious parts of the psyche.
